About SONG-DATABASE.COM (Terms of Use)

SONG-DATABASE.COM ("the site") is a semi-private, non-commercial web site created by enthusiasts of pop music. These individuals have logged countless hours of research and data entry to create this database. Public usage of, and membership in the site is a priviledge which can be revoked at any time for any reason. This is not an open source project. The site can be considered a free public service, as long as you respect the limitations.

The site incurs expenses, such as for hosting and domain fees, but does not contain any advertising. For these reasons, unlimited access to the site is not allowed. If you require unfettered access to the site, you will need to contribute something, whether helping with the improvement of the site, or donating cash to help offset our expenses. Start by becoming a member - it's free and your e-mail address is safe. We don't send unsolicited e-mail and will not give your e-mail address to other parties.

Guests (those who are not signed in as a member) are allowed to view 25 unique pages (`page loads`) per 24 hour period. Hopefully, this is enough access to give that person a `taste` of what the site offers, enticing them to become a member. Free expanded access and extra features are offered to those who create a membership. We believe that if someone takes 2 minutes to become a member, then they might be the type of person who will get involved in the improvement of the site. Therefore, members are initially allowed 80 page loads per 24 hour period. However, if you are a non-contributing member who consistently pushes the limits, your allowable pages will be reduced.

Q: What the heck is a "page load"?
A: Every time you click a link or a button and move to another page, that is one page load.

Our proprietary Traffic Cop© security module keeps law and order on the site. Every hit to the site is recorded and analyzed. If it is detected that a particular person or a particular computer ("a connection"), has been using too much bandwidth or loaded too many pages, then the security kicks in and blocks access to the site for 24 hours. In extreme cases, a 403 Forbibben Error will be triggered and that connection will be permanently banned from the site.

Note: all attempts to bypass our security module will be detected by our automated Traffic Cop©, or by a real person monitoring the site's activity (yes, real people). Here are some reasons why you may be blocked from using the site:

*Concealing your IP address, such as by using a proxy server.
*Creating multiple memberships.
*Browsing the site in an excessively repetitious or methodical fashion.
*Running an unauthorized crawler or automated script.
*Modifying the query string.
*Attempting to access Site Admin.

Members who feel that 80 pages is not enough can donate money to the site. Each 10 cents donated is an extra page load allowed in a 24 hour period. Extra page loads can also be earned by contributing information to the site.
