| When I try to sign in, it says "Invalid Sign In" |
This will happen for one of four reasons...
1.) You did not confirm your e-mail address.
When you signed up for membership, we sent you an
e-mail with instructions to complete the membership process.
You should check your "Junk" or "Spam" folder too because your
e-mail program may have mistakenly marked our e-mail as Spam.
If you cannot find this e-mail at all, or you have strict e-mail filters, contact us
and we'll straighten it out for you.
2.) You haven't signed in recently. To manage our large membership database,
we remove memberships which haven't visited the site within the last 90 days.
3.) Some non-contributing memberships are cancelled, based on heavy use and/or abuse, rather than a time limit
as above. Making a one-time donation, as little as $10.00, ensures that your membership won't be cancelled.
4.) You're not typing your screen name and/or password correctly. You can retrieve your sign-in information here

| Why don't you have "such and such" an artist or song? |
We're not like commerical music sites that list millions of songs. We don't think our focus should be that of every artist that ever recorded
from every walk of life. We concentrate on popular songs as defined by Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
However, there are many well-known songs that did not appear on the pop chart. Maybe they weren't released as a single,
or maybe they gained popularity in another fashion or on a different chart. We are currently listing such songs as indicated by HM (Honorable Mention).
|
| How do I listen to the songs, or download the songs? |
Song-database.com is a reference catalog, not a download site. We do not store or deliver digital music files. Our site is useful
for finding music that interests you, but if you're looking to download music, you should do that legally, and somewhere else. We don't recommend
one music service or another.
|
| Can I copy information from this site? |
You are free to copy lyrics from this site, we don't prevent that, but keep in mind that lyrics are the copyright of the artists and their labels.
Attempting to index songs and artists is not allowed. We go to greate lengths to prevent such actions.
However, we can create digital subsets of our database for you, saving you a lot of time and trouble.
It's best to come forward and tell us of your needs.
|
| What is the number in parentheses next to my screen name? |
This is the number of "chits" that you have earned by contributing content, correcting errors or cash donations. Certain features
of the site are not available to those with 0 chits. Our policy is this: ask not what the site can do for you, ask what you
can do for the site.
|
| How do I help with site improvements? |
For the most part, we have a skilled team in place to manage site improvements. But if you have something unique to offer
or would like to make suggestions or corrections, be sure to contact us.
|
| Where did you get the content for SONG-DATABASE.com? |
Our database was created from a variety of freely available documents, a lot of internet research and the continued effort of
song-database.com members. There's nothing secret or unique about our data, but we think our professional compilation, presentation and
cross-referencing of artists, songs, time periods and genres is second-to-none.
|
| Why I am temporarily blocked from using the site? |
If you are temporarily blocked, then you must admit that you have been enjoying the site to some extent.
At this point we ask you to either become a member or upgrade your existing membership.
See our Terms of Use for details on membership limitations and upgrading.
|
| How did I violate the terms of use? |
If you are permanently redirected to our Terms of Use page, then you have violated our rules in one
way or another. We've marked you as a "bad" member and you will continue to be blocked until you have explained your actions.
Only a personal note to us will clear this up.
|
| I'm blocked from the site because my ISP is not safe? What? |
All visitors to song-database.com are (unwittingly) participating in our Internet Service Provider Whitelisting Project.
If you are connecting to the internet via a mainstream internet provider in a major English-speaking country, be assured that you will be clear
to use the site within 24 hours.
